To reduce public health risks such as
accidental needle sticks, Wisconsin law requires all citizens to
manage needles, lancets, and syringes safely. It is illegal
to put sharps in the trash or with recyclables.
Used and unused sharps must be placed
in an acceptable sharps container and taken to a registered
collection facility. NEVER put sharps in the trash or with
recyclables!

The Grand Chute Police Department was well represented at the
annual Best Badge Award banquet hosted by District Attorney Carrie
Schneider. on April 19.
The first award was an individual Investigative Award that was
presented to Scott Callaway. Scott worked a
complex burglary and theft investigation that was repeatedly
impeded by false leads provided by the suspect, but eventually led
to convictions on numerous crimes in multiple counties. The effort
and determination Scott showed during this investigation was
remarkable, and he willingly endured significant personal
sacrifices to ensure a successful outcome.
The second award was an Outstanding Teamwork Award presented to
a group of our employees for their roles in the Hollywood Cinema
robbery on Easter Sunday, 2011. We shared this award with officers
from the Appleton PD, Town of Menasha PD, Outagamie County
Sheriff's Department, and the Winnebago County Sheriff's
Department. Recognized for their performance in this investigation
were: Aaron Schellinger, Amanda Dempsey, Austin Weisnicht,
Benjamin Kons, Brad Kuehl, Cindy Trombly, Derek Reiter, Ian
Gollner, Jim Bargenquast, Josh Bohlen, Katie Keuler, Mike Renkas,
Mike Velie, Scott Callaway, Scott Steinke, Shawn Enneper and Todd
Zolkowski. Accepting the award on behalf of the group were
Aaron Schellinger, Katie Keuler, Mike Renkas, Scott Callaway, and
Brad Kuehl.
Please congratulate all of the award recipients, both on the
outstanding effort and the well deserved recognition. Thank you for
the professional manner in which you've represented the GCPD!!

The Grand Chute Fire Department would like to
recognize Lieutenant Brad Paltzer of
the Grand Chute Fire Department on being named "Public Educator of
the Year" by the Wisconsin State Fire Inspectors
Association.
Each year at their annual conference, the Wisconsin State
Fire Inspectors Association presents two awards for "Public
Educator of the Year" and two for "Fire Inspector of the Year".
Nominations are accepted and reviewed by the awards committee which
is comprised of a group of peers in the fire service. They evaluate
each nomination to determine who is most dedicated to the
prevention of fire through fire inspections and public
education.
Lt. Paltzer was presented his award at the Fire Inspectors
Annual Conference banquet held in Green Bay on November 3, 2011.
Mike Flunker of Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue was also presented with
an award.
